Glass Beach Heart, Pocket Heart, Light Aqua and True Blue Glass Heart

This listing is for a handmade fused glass heart, created in my home studio. To make these, I slowly heat crushed glass over a 16-hour firing cycle to approximately 1500 degrees, at which point the glass liquefies and melts into the heart-shaped mold. The result reveals the ocean and surf design seen here in this listing. The "water" part of the design captures the effervescence of the crashing surf with tiny bubbles throughout. The sand is made with a fine-grain mix of colored crushed glass.

These hearts are approximately 2 inches by 2 inches and come shipped in a small colored organza bag. This item is not meant to be a paperweight and only weighs approximately 30 - 40 grams.

These beautiful hearts are a loving reminder of another person, a token of friendship, or a way to symbolize a connection with someone. This heart in particular was inspired by the beach - the surf, the sand, the sea, and the sun. It's a beautiful day captured in glass. The aqua blue contrasted against the sand and surf is the perfect way to say "I love the beach!" I live near Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, Florida, and I used the beautiful beach area here to inspire this heart.
